About

Youtube is my main passion. It is the ultimate space to upload video projects. I grew up in the generation that was impacted and influenced by Youtube nearly as much as film, television, and literature. To older folk, that's probably a worrisome statement, and in some ways it probably wasn't ideal, but nonetheless video media has evolved. I wake up many days wondering what next cool thing I can work on, and with the freedom Youtube provides, there is no barrier to entry, only the work I put ahead of myself.

Short Form Content

Short form content has been the next evolution in video content creation. For the purposes of the MrWonkler channel,  short form content will mainly continue to be a means of spreading current projects to a wider audience, rather than custom unique videos made specifically for Shorts/Tiktok/Instagram.

Editing

I am a proud Davinci Resolve user, and have been ever since I created my channel. Some of the biggest compliments I've ever received have been in relation to my editing, which really comes as a surprise to me. I am completely self taught, and have never stepped foot in an editing or film class my entire  life. So the feedback I've received has been invaluable to my growth.

Writing

Opportunity

I am in every sense of the word an introvert, and one of the great temptations an introvert experiences is to not instigate conversation (mainly with strangers or acquaintances). When I got the opportunity to interview the ARC crew associated with Construct_13_beta, it opened an avenue for me to begin instigating conversations within the Garry's mod community. Since then, I have interviewed many developers, ARG/Analog Horror directors, and even larger YouTubers (TheLibrarian).

My approach when interviewing is to keep the conversation, well, conversational. I've found that the moment things stiffen up into a sort of question and response format, you lose the tangents and the stories that coincide the creation of these projects. Most of my interviews take place while also interacting with the project of interest, and I've found this to do wonders in learning more about the creator and the project.

Amateur

I'll be deadass, I have no idea how to write compelling narrative. The feedback loop with YouTube is so streamlined, that once I gained a base knowledge of the technical side, I could actively experiment with editing choices and see how my audience reacted. Writing is a whole other ballgame however. I've mainly had to go out of my way to get feedback on something I've written, which makes feedback not even a loop at all (lol). My hope is by creating a place where I can host my writing, it can be exposed to public critique which will in turn make me into a better writer.
